CBT – Motorcycle Compulsory Basic Training
It consists of 5 modules:
Element A. Introduction
It is a legal requirement, to wear a motorcycle helmet when riding on the roads of the UK. All other parts of the clothing to protect rider is optional but highly recommended.
Element B: Practical on-site training
The instructor takes you through some maintenance tips on how-to look after your motorcycle. You can sit on the bike to feel the balance and weight
Element C: Practical on-site riding
First thing first is safety.
Then, clutch control is very important to master, it is needed to ride straight line, control speed and balance
Observation, final checks before moving
Some maneuvers:
Controlled stop within the box
Emergency stop
U – turn
Pretending being on the road: Pulling out of a junction
Element D: Practical on-road preparation
Go back to the classroom and learn the following:
Legal requirements of a ride: attitude, positioning, separation distances, speed, anticipating what other road users may do, preparing for developing hazards
